Lesley Baillie RGN, ONC, BA(Hons), RNT, MSc(Nurs), PhD
Lesley Baillie qualified as an orthopaedic and general registered nurse in 1979. She then worked in acute care settings in Buckinghamshire and Norfolk and she gained additional qualifications in coronary care nursing and teaching. In 1989, she took up a nurse teacher's post in Buckinghamshire. She gained a BA(Hons) in Nurse Education in 1993 and an MSc in Nursing in 1995. From 2002–2004, Lesley was a Senior Lecturer in Adult Nursing at the Open University. Since 2004, she has worked as a Principal Lecturer for Clinical Skills Developments in the Faculty of Health and Social Care at London South Bank University. The first edition of her edited textbook Developing Practical Nursing Skills was published in 2001 and the second edition was published in 2005. She has published widely in journals, particularly in relation to dignity, caring and clinical skills. In 2007, Lesley was awarded a PhD for her doctoral thesis about patient dignity and she is a consultant to the Royal College of Nursing's Dignity campaign. Lesley continues to work part-time as an Accident and Emergency nurse in Buckinghamshire.
